Public information should be publicly available.
Public records laws shouldn’t be so difficult to navigate that it requires extra time or resources to successfully file or obtain documents.
Public the Records is dedicated to expanding public awareness and understanding of public records laws through:
journalism that highlights the impact the law can have on public awareness of government,
advocacy that raises awareness of flaws and abuses of public records laws,
education that empowers more people to use public records laws to obtain public information,
and assistance to people struggling to file public records laws.
This project is a work-in-progress. Check back frequently for new information.
